Andover Mutual Business Group Experiences Archaeology for Everyone with Trench 1: speaking at our June breakfast meeting will be Gemma Ingason of Trench 1.

Founder of Romsey-based archaeological company Trench 1 – a new and up-and-coming business created to bring ancient history and lessons from the past to the forefront – will be speaking at Andover Mutual Business Group’s next breakfast meeting; giving all in attendance the chance to experience, learn about, touch, and admire real treasures from days gone by.

From the Stone Age to the Iron Age, to the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, archaeologists Trench 1 support schools to teach history using interactive archaeology workshops, loan boxes, inset training, and free curriculum-linked web downloads.

“Trench 1 archaeology was founded last year and is my first foray into business ownership,” explains Trench 1 founder, Gemma Ingason. “It has been a daunting task – overcoming hurdles and challenges, not least of which has been my own self-doubt.

“Joining AMBG and networking with other people who have been in my shoes has helped immeasurably and I am delighted to have been asked to speak at their June meeting.

“I hope that my short talk exploring Trench 1’s company aim of archaeology for everyone and the ways in which we achieve this, is helpful, or at the very least engaging, for those able to make the meeting.”

Trench 1’s archaeologist also gives a variety of different talks, engages people at events, teaches adults, and actively supports Southampton Young Archaeologists’ Club; showing real artefacts, archaeology, and enthusiasm to bring the past to life.

In addition, Trench 1 has developed a range of unique curriculum-linked archaeology and bushcraft school trips with the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Romsey which launched earlier this year.

Andover MBG meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Copper Kettle in Andover. The costs are excellent value with an annual subscription of just £30 and breakfast £10.

Next meeting: Tuesday 28th June, 07:30-09:00am. Guests are welcome; for those attending their first meeting, breakfast is free, and £10 thereafter.
